We’ve been racing the Nature Valley GP this week. Things haven’t got that great but, they’ve been alright. Dan picked up a 3rd place on Stage 2 and Sayers picked up the most aggressive rider jersey on stage 4. I may have obtained a 5th in the TT if I didn’t miss my start by 2:30 minutes.

But, the best thing so far was the smack down last night. We were rolling back to the hotel pretty late after the criterium and I saw 2 people running in the parking lot. I couldn’t quite make out the shadows but, it looked like they might not have been messing around. As they ran into a little more visible area we noticed it was a girl chasing a large man. It looked pretty desperate as she was throwing blows and screaming at him. We bolted out of the van and Dan went straight after the guy. The guy chucked the girls cell phone that he grabbed from her so she couldn’t call the police. Tons of riders are staying at the race hotel and a few of them saw the action and came and joined it. The guy kept running down the street and Dan grabbed his jacket to slow him down and try and stop him. He wiggled out of his jacket and Dan tackled him to the curb. He kept saying he didn’t do anything but he wouldn’t stop running away. He ran out of steam and had to power walk but, he started doubling back toward the hotel. We kept telling him to just stop or come into the hotel and well settle the whole thing but, as we noticed he wasn’t going back to the hotel and wanted to carry on down the road away from it Dan threw his jacket in the guys face and piledrived him and a bunch of guys jumped on him. The guys held him down till the cops arrived. The cops cuffed him. They did some investigating and found out that the guy was spotted coming out of the girls (the Nav soigneur) room and had a master key to all the rooms. I guess he found out a bunch of bikers were in town and was going to rob a bunch of rooms. It was pretty crazy as the guy was like 250 and Dan literally lifted him off the ground and pile drived him. I was impressed.
