Bummed

Stories 1 Comment »

Didn’t finish today. I felt pretty good but, wasn’t getting up the wall very fast. I was pretty bummed when I missed a huge split with only a couple of big laps to go. The whole team worked for me and Scotty today and while Scotty pulled through with the goods, I pulled out. Pretty disappointed. Partly for the guys and all their sacrifice for me and partly for my own personal goals of once doing something in this race.

I guess the only good news is, one Scotty rocked his hometown race, and two I managed to finish 3rd in the triple crown dealio. No 5 grand and a 2 year hybrid car lease but, I scored 2 grand.

Rest Day

Arrived at Scotty’s Parent’s Pad today. We will be staying here all week. Pretty sweet setup. I have stayed hear many a days. I have decided to start taping everything Mike Dietrich says because the guy is hilarious. Pretty much the funniest guy I have ever met. I think tomorrow most of us will go out and see a movie, probably “The Break Up”. Right now we are sitting around waiting for 10 o’clock to watch “Family Guy”. I just heard about the uproar on BJM’s site in regards to a post he put up a few weeks ago about a junior. Funny how easy it is to start an online riot. Looks like Scotty is looking for someone special. Visit Schmatz’s site for details. Here’s some media of the day.

I won a big one today. Well big enough I guess. Atleast I thought it was big until I went online and checked the cycling websites and found hardly any coverage. So I guess its not that big. Its kind of cool to go back and look at pictures of a race especially when your cross-eyed all day and can’t exactly take in the whole experience while in the race.

Anyways, thanks to boys for riding a killer race. Especially Scotty and Martin. Martin basically won the race for me. Scotty and I went to lead him out with 1 K togo. Scotty took it to about 500 meters togo before the last turn and I hit out as hard to make sure I got Martin through the last turn first. Carried my speed through the turn and just kept charging giving everthing I could, expecting Martin and other sprinters to swarm past me. As I came closer to the line I looked back and saw that I had a huge gap, and I held it to the line. I guess Martin sat up from my wheel which gave me just enough gap to get to the line first. Pretty crazy since I was in the hurt locker (as J-Al would say) all day.

We saw some interesting cars driving to the race today:

This car had bulls nuts hanging from the bottom of it? You can barely see it but, we rolled up slow and noticed these things dangling from underneath the back of the car. I guess there is some similarity to this car and a bull.

We’ve had some bum races the last few days.

Captech was going good with Ben in the move of the day but, he had an asthma attack and had to pull out. Jesse, Scott, and I tried to salvage what we could of the race but, couldn’t crack the top ten.

CSC Invitational was tough today. We all road hard and most of us managed to avoid the crazy crashes but, still didn’t do very well. The course was very fast and it was overcast with lots of wind. Ben didn’t start since his knee has just started to bug him and he flew home to make sure he gets it recovered before Philly. We were looking pretty good with the majority of the team up front most of the race. And after about 80 laps, and 10 crashes we were down to 3 in the final 20 or so. Due to some miscommunication and a crash that gapped Dan off I ended up being the guy for the sprint with 10 togo. I totally jacked it up though. I didn’t put myself where I need to be and ended up sprinting for 10th place. Which was weak considering alot of the top sprinters didn’t make the final 20 guys.

Were hanging at the Dille’s for one more night then heading up to Lancaster tomorrow. Lancaster will be tough tomorrow and I believe the weather is going to be spotty all week.
