So, it rained almost all day. It was pretty warm out so it wasn’t that bad. I had to do 5 hours today with the local race so, I headed out in the morning before driving out to stockton for the crit in the afternoon. BJM and I drove up. We ran into Russell Hamby and Keri both of which worked for the team last year. Russell didn’t know if he wanted to race due to the rain. Especially since he pretty much gets to do what he wants riding for Lombardi Sports this year. After the race looking back at his contemplation, he may have been better off not racing today

The crit was an L-shape flat course. Pretty wide open. One semi-challenging turn but, for the most part a wide open course with a pretty heavy wind. The race started out fast with everyone hitting out hard from the go. Crashes littered the first 20 minutes of the race and occassional ones continued throughout the race. Russell was one of those several crashes. He went hot into the second turn with Ben and I on his wheel. He unclipped his foot to try and save it and looked good but, he didn’t quite have it. He was running right alongside the barriers and was just hitting the footing of each one as he was trying to save it. Ben just barely got passed as Russell lost it, falling into the barriers and shooting his bike up in the air. I thought I was gonna clear it as his bike came crashing down right in front of me. I t-boned it instantly piercing my front tire and firing his bike accross the road. I think that is atleast the third Lombardi Sports bike I have damaged during a race year to date. Russell said he was “gonna be alright” via text message so, I guess he is doing fine.

After that excitement, and a wheel change, Ben and I got off in a group of 8 with about 1:10 to go. We rolled it pretty smoothly in the group just picking off primes and holding a descent gap. I flatted again with about 40 minutes to go and pitted for a rear wheel this time. Later on I ended up popping off the front with a little gap accompanied by Brent Miller from Arete racing with about 8 laps togo. We rolled it well and sprinted at the end. I scored my first win of 06. Ben rolled in 4th, almost replaying last weekend exactly. It was a good day, great money for a local event.

Ben and I hit up this Afgan Kabob Market in Tracy on our way home. We both rocked the chicken steak kabob’s it was good. I dug the bread especially. I’ve been enjoying the ethnic cuisine this week as my girlfriend and I just hit up a Hawaain food place a day or so ago a few days prior to that we hit up a Mediteranean restaurant. I dug the Afgan market though it was pretty cool. I picked up some “Big Van” biscuits. They are biscuits with vanilla creme in the middle of them. They are all over Europe and I’ve gotten them in Argentina as well but, you rarely see them around here.

And now in a T-Wells posting fashion -  I wonder what the KGSN Canadians are doing right now? I wonder if Canadian Dan, has been training with Canadians Dom and Martin?.
