Somerville

Somerville went alright for us yesterday. We had some bad luck but, Dan salvaged it with a podium position. We road hard. Everyone was active early on. Jesse and I ended up getting into a big move of about 15. The move had 5 Navigators, 3 ColaVita and 5 random riders. This move then split to be 3 Navigators, Fratini of Colavita, and myself. The move was looking good. At one point we had 35 seconds, I think. The 3 navigators had the race won with the 2 best sprinters in the move but, they insisted on making sure that Fratini and I were pulling through or gapped off the back. I was pretty torched from the heat. Carney instructed me not to pull through since, I would just get pumbled by attacks from all different directions, by the ending laps, from 3 Navigators. So, I tried to sit on to save some energy for the end but, they were not very happy with that. So, I ended up getting attacked after I rolled through and couldn’t close it with 8 to go. I fell back to the field and tried to help the guys. The guys road great. Our leadout is getting much better. Martin had a mechanical in the final laps so we lost him but, Dan road well and took 3rd for the day.

Famous KGSN Radio words of the day:

Carney: “Jackson, so….Navigators has some fast sprinters in there with Oleg and Hilton….so…you probably, maybe, probably are not going to beat them in the sprint….. so sit on!”

Carney: “Jackson, if I see you pulling one more time…..I am gonna….gonna….gonna be really mad!”

A day at the Kelly’s

We hung out at John Kelly’s house for a day. John Kelly is the president of Kelly & Associates Insurance Group. They are a major sponsor of the Kelly Benefits Strategies cycling team. He put us up, it was a nice setup. We had a killer dinner, excellent bread, great wine, wifi, and a nice ride in the moring.

Here’s some pictures of our activities:

2 good days

Stories 1 Comment »

Well we have had two good days so far. Marty Gilbert (Gretsky) took KGSN’s first NRC win of 06 at the Raleigh Criterium last night and J-AL scored a 4th today. We cleaned up at the Raleigh Crit. Winning many of the primes and placing almost the whole team in the prize money. We did the same today placing everyone in the top 30. Everyone is riding really well and the guys are really keying off of each other. Will see how these next few crits go.

We have come accross some interesting sights within the 2 days we have been on the road already.

It seems here in N. Carolina its common to sport abnormally large rims. So common that we came accross a store that sold furniture, such as couches, tables, etc, as well as really expensive large shiny chrome car rims.

1 out of 3

It seems like 1 ouf of 3 flights I take go well. Today’s flight was one of the other 2. I flew Delta today. My flight out of SJC to ATL was just fine but, my flight out of ATL to Raleigh, NC was horrible. They loaded us on to a plane with no AC and left us sitting in a full plane steaming away for roughly 45 minutes until we finally left the gate and took off. The AC finally kicked on as we took off but, I still have no idea why we sat there in a boiling plane for 45 minutes. Painful. Then we had to circle for another 30 minutes waiting for a clear landing into Raleigh, N.C. do to a thunderstorm. Made for a long day and just another bad day I can add to my tally of bad days courtesy of the Airlines. Atleast all my bags made it.

Congrats to Zac for finishing up his masters in C.S. this week. We hit up dinner last night with the Walkers, the Arab, Cherise and Heather to celebrate.

Here is another Poll:

What is your ratio of good airline travel days to bad ones?
1 to 2
1 to 3
1 to 4
1 to 5
None. All my flights have been horrible.
